The first quarter of school is over in a couple of weeks. Time goes by so quickly. Isaac has one game left of football and Halloween is right around the corner. It's time for a family update!
This time... oldest to youngest! Angie. Me. School is going well. I have almost a full schedule and I am missing my slack first year's schedule when half the students went to the new elementary that opened. Harrisburg's School District is growing that fast! Next fall a new elementary will open but probably won't affect my school that much. I spent the Sundays in September running in races. I did my first half marathon in Sioux Falls, a 5k in Vermillion and a 10K in Omaha. Of course, Steve and I did our training together. We did the half marathon together and last weekend he did some sort of torturous (in my opinion) 10K in Newton Hills. I passed on the chance to do a trail run. No thank you! Steve spent a week in Sacramento for work. One weekend he dragged the family to a hunting cabin in DeSmet and forced me to shoot clay pigeons until I hit one. (Just kidding, we went willingly). He went to Lincoln and tailgated in style with my brother for the SDSU/Nebraska game. Steve's Wednesday night golf league wrapped up last week. Skyler was on the golf team but that started and was over within a few weeks it seems like. Only the top golfers go to the meets and he isn't quite up there with the country club kids. LOL. He has been spending a lot of time playing tennis with his friends after school. He took on Steve and Skyler dominated! Steve, I think, was surprised and wants a rematch. Skyler ly realwould like to play Uncle Joel for a challenge. Skyler has a lot of free time since his job ended at Sunshine. Hyvee bought the Sunshine store and wouldn't rehire anyone under 16. I'm not sure if he has committed to debate this year or not but he did try out for honor's choir on a whim and made it! This inspired Isaac to try out for something similar. He will be making an audition cd soon. I was quite surprised but impressed by Ike's choice. Keep you posted on the results for that! His football season is coming to an end with his final game at the Dome in Vermillion. It's so much fun to watch them play there. Bug Free and controlled weather isn't so bad either! His team only won one game this year but he still had fun. He played center and did a great job. I think basketball practice will be starting very soon. He also has a bug collection due very soon. I recall crawling around outside with a flashlight the night before Skyler's was due. I pulled an "A" on that assignment. I was very clear to Isaac that I was not doing his bug collection. However, I would say that a majority of the bugs gathered so far were caught by me. You would think since he is a boy he wouldn't mind touching bugs but apparently he's like Josie. Even Josie is starting to get over her bug phobia. She will at least look at one without screaming now. She's getting so grown up. No more diapers either! She slept with the same squishy baby doll for two years and then one night she said "no more baby". Apparently it was too babyish. It was quite upsetting to me. She still has a blanket and sleeps with a unicorn instead. She's so cute riding her bike around the neighborhood with her "real" baby doll. She has a basket hanging on the front of her bike with a bell and streamers on the handle. On the back is a baby seat for her doll. She has quite the set up! Josie has also started dance at Balleraena Dance Studio. She is in a combo class with ballet and tap. It is so adorable seeing all the little girls in their tutus. She just loves it!
Enjoy the beautiful fall weather and I will post again after Halloween. Bye!

first day of school
http://picasaweb.google.com/sabonnema/20100825#
Here are some pictures of our summertime fun. We started school today. Skyler is a sophomore and driving he and his brother to school in his "new" car. He is on the golf team. He has about two more weeks of working at Sunshine before he loses his job because Sunshine was bought out. Isaac started middle school. I didn't ask how opening his locker went today! His first football game of the season was last night. They didn't win but it was still fun to watch. He is the starting center. Josie turned 3 yesterday. We had a little birthday party with some close friends on Sunday evening. Tonight we went to Sesame Street Live with Max and Melissa. We had front and center seats. Pretty exciting. ha ha I'm exhausted from my first day of school. No more spur of the moment naps. I have a pretty full schedule. I have 23 classes. I think we have room for 24 sections at our school. We just grow so quickly. When I was hired two years ago another elementary school had just been built and they split our school in half. Steve is busy with work and golf on Wednesday nights. We continue to train for our half marathon on September 12th. I am not really looking forward to it. I like to run five miles and that's about it. After that, it's just painful! Steve has to travel to Sacramento to work in September. That's all for now.... no proof reading this and I'm tired so any mistakes I will blame on exhaustion! Good night everyone!

No Excuses.
I've been finished with my classes for over a week so I have no excuse for avoiding this. I'm sorry it has been since January. I guess I will begin with the youngest, Josie. She's always making us laugh. The other day she asked me if she could go to Great Grandma's house. I didn't know if she knew what she was talking about so I asked her what color Great Grandma's hair is. She said "white". I guess she does know what she is talking about! Potty training is on hold. I was getting frustrated and she was requesting diapers. Since we are going to be driving to Colorado in two weeks maybe it is for the best. Josie gets to be a flower girl in two weddings in July. It should be fun!
Isaac has been busy this summer with baseball games and this week basketball camp. Tonight is his last regular season baseball game. His team has done really well. He did learn the hard way that his league has a rule stating you have to slide into home. He's golfed a few times with friends, also. Friday he has to have a baby tooth pulled that is crowding his other teeth. He's not very excited about that.
Skyler is taking his driving test tomorrow. I'm not really sure how I feel about that. His learner's permit is going to expire and if you don't take the driving test they make you go through a waiting period. He hasn't finished driver's ed but we want him to get a car and start driving to school in August. We'll see how it goes. I've been trying to get him out driving the last couple of days. He's been working a few hours a week at Sunshine, playing baseball and golfing every once in a while.
Steve has been busy working, which is a good thing! He's been golfing and working out in his free time. He's lost a lot of weight. People who haven't seen him for 6 months or so don't always recognize him. He and I just started training for a half marathon that is in September.
That's our life right now... running kids here and there. We also have the privilege of watching a 3rd dog for a couple of weeks. 3 dogs=chaos. As if our house wasn't crazy enough! We are looking forward to next week when Joel and Cara come and Rachel of course, too!
Time to make dinner and off to baseball! Bye Everyone!

Blizzards and Bikinis
Monday is a perfect day for a snow day. I wish I would have known before 7:30 this morning but none-the-less... I don't have to suffer through a case of the "mondays". Skyler and Isaac are at school and since Josie was bundled up for daycare already, Steve dropped her off. I have a quiet day all to myself. Yay!!! I worked out, made carob chip cookies for the dogs and I am watching HGTV. Steve didn't make the bed this morning so it is almost like he's trying to make me take a nap.
Yesterday Josie decided after church that she was going to wear her bikini top with leggings. At first I said "no" but then reconsidered... what does it matter, we aren't going anywhere! So while the snow was falling outside, Josie was in her bikini. The big girl bed is going well. She does get up on her own in the morning now. She continues to come and tell on Isaac for various things, sometimes made up. She will point to a bruise on her leg and say, "Isaac hurt me". Isaac does annoy her. Last night he was so bored because Skyler wasn't home and he would hide Josie's baby doll. She would pick up a blanket to get the baby bed ready and turn around to pick the baby up and Isaac will have shoved it under the couch. Meanwhile, Steve and Skyler are in Sioux Falls at Skyler's basketball game. The games seem to get scheduled late on Sunday night so the whole family can't go.
Over the weekend Steve and I got to go on a double date with our friends Matt and Melissa. We went to Texas Roadhouse and then bowling. I was craving pie so we went to Perkins after that and didn't get home until after midnight. We are so old. LOL!
Nothing really exciting going on! Have a great week everyone!

2010!
Happy New Year! We have added about 6 more inches of snow since this picture was taken. Now that the street, sidewalk, and drive way is scooped, we have no where to put more snow! We had a 30 degree temperature raise today from yesterday. I believe we hit 20. The boys were probably wearing shorts.
Last night Josie spent the first night in her "big girl" bed. She had been sleeping on the mattress on the floor but now that she is up on the bed, she's not so sure about it! She's been having fun the last few days staying at home with Mom, Skyler and Isaac since Thursday and Friday were snow days! She does a good job of staying in bed and waiting for someone to get her up in the morning. One day she did get up herself and started playing with her babies downstairs. When I woke up she said, "I did it myself."
We spent January 2 and 3 in Omaha at Brian and Kate's house. We had a small Christmas celebration since we couldn't make it the week before. Isaac loves his new hat and Skyler is just thrilled as usual. Nice red eye, editing. Oops.
Josie posed for this picture. She was being quite the ham!
Looking forward to a full week of school. Skyler had his first Y ball game today and will get to experience high school exams for the first time this week. Isaac has basketball practice. Steve has his Power program. My parents are in Honolulu for the day and then off to Samoa for 2.5 weeks. Send the warm weather this way please!!!
